Board (Food)

Regardless of accommodation type and destination, you always get full board. Full board normally consists of breakfast, packed lunch and dinner. In homestay families you have the advantage to try traditional food typical for the host country. Typically, the host families aim to offer a mixture of family typical meals and students’ wishes. We suggest you try everything! To try different dishes is a valuable experience to take home from a language holiday. Breakfast and dinner are eaten with the host family. If there is anything you do not eat at all, please look up the vocabulary and explain it to your host parents.

You can indicate any food intolerances and allergies and any other dietary requirements in the respective form when buying the language holiday. We might add a surcharge for certain dietary requirements (e.g. lactose or gluten intolerance) in order to compensate for the host families’ increased expense and effort.

Your host family packs you a lunch box which you can enjoy during the day, at lunch break at school or during day trips. Normally, your packed lunch consists of a sandwich, fruit, a sweet or biscuit and a beverage. Talk to your host family about things you like on your sandwich or which beverages you like.

As part of the leisure time activities, you have the opportunity to try traditional food, e.g. fish’n’chips in England, mussels in France or Tapas in Spain. All these dishes taste even better in an authentic environment.

When staying in the halls of residence, meals are organised as buffets. You can decide which dishes you would like to eat and pick who to sit with and what conversations to engage in.
